Five Islands is a rural community in Colchester County, Nova Scotia, with a population of 316. It sits on the north shore of Minas Basin, home of the highest tides in the world, and is situated on Trunk 2 – the largest community between Parrsboro to the east and Economy to the west. The community takes its name from five small islands located just off the coast: Moose Island, Diamond Island, Long Island, Egg Island, and Pinnacle Island.
The five islands are an exposed part of the North Mountain Basalt. Moose Island falls within Colchester County, while the remaining four islands lie in Cumberland County. Beyond Pinnacle Island stands a sea stack known as Pinnacle Rock.
