Blockhouse is a community in the Lunenburg Municipal District of Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. The community takes its name from the blockhouses constructed by Captain Ephraim Cook, which were built to protect colonists following a raid in 1756.
The blockhouses stood in the community for well over a century before the final one burned down in 1874, bringing an end to a distinctive chapter in the area’s history.
