Inverness is a rural community located in Inverness County, on the island of Cape Breton in Nova Scotia, Canada. In 2021, the community had a population of 1,228, reflecting a modest decline of 1.6% from the 2016 census.
Location and Access
Inverness sits roughly an hour’s drive north of the Canso Causeway, the fixed link that connects Cape Breton Island to the Nova Scotia mainland. Travelling in the other direction, the community is approximately an hour south of Cape Breton Highlands National Park, placing it in a central position along the island’s western coast.
